The new Montecristo White cigars -- which sport a white cigar band and are packed in a white box, are made with a delicious Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador in place of the Connecticut-shade that covers Altadis's core Montecristo, which comes in a yellow box. Montecristo White cigars will be rarer than the original. James Colucci, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Montecristo, said for the past several years, Montecristo has been collecting some select Ecuadorian Connecticut wrappers and aging them." The wrapper isn't the only change: The Montecristo White cigars have a Nicaraguan binder, and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler, compared to the all-Dominican inside of the traditional Montecristo. "It will be a spicier and more full-flavored Montecristo," said Mr.Colucci.
